Drivers open the TruckerPro Driver app and rate each item on a checklist based on National Safety Code Schedule 1 as OK, minor or major. Your company chooses whether a major defect keeps the truck parked.

Held until a supervisor clears it
The pre-trip and the post-trip are both done in the TruckerPro Driver app. No paper sheets to collect, read and file at the end of the week.
Checklist items come from Schedule 1, the list that Standard 13 of the National Safety Code uses for trip inspections of trucks, tractors and trailers.
Every item gets OK, minor or major, plus a note where it helps, so a cracked lens and a leaking brake chamber never look alike on the record.
The odometer reading and a GPS fix are stored with every inspection, so you know which yard or truck stop the unit was checked in.
If you want it, a company rule can require a pre-trip ahead of every pickup and a post-trip ahead of every delivery. Nothing changes until you turn it on.
With blocking enabled, any major defect parks the truck, and only a supervisor can clear it to go back into service.
Every defect a driver reports shows up on that vehicle’s risk register. Pull up T-219 and today’s major suspension item sits beside the minor tire note another driver left on Tuesday, so the small things a paper sheet would lose stay with the truck.
Standard 13 does not allow a commercial vehicle with a major defect to be driven. When blocking is on in RigMD, such a truck is held out of service until a supervisor clears it, which means the person returning it to the road has seen the report. The repair itself is your shop’s decision; on Pro, the shop lead opens a work order and hands it to a mechanic.
A trip inspection covers one day. Each unit also needs its periodic inspection under Standard 11 Part B, known as CVIP in British Columbia and Alberta, the annual or semi-annual inspection in Ontario and the mandatory mechanical inspection in Quebec. Daily renewal alerts in RigMD watch those dates alongside registration, IRP cab cards, insurance and permits, using each unit’s fleet records, and the CVIP guide explains the provincial programs.
In Quebec, carriers whose preventive maintenance program the SAAQ has recognized must fill out and keep maintenance sheets. Premium lets mechanics record a PM inspection on SAAQ form 6609A for a truck or 6648A for a trailer, then print the result as a PDF for the file. Compare the plans on pricing.
How it works
Choose whether pickups and deliveries need an inspection first, and whether major defects hold trucks.
The driver rates every checklist item in the app and adds notes on anything that is not OK.
Odometer, location and results are saved, and defects join the truck’s risk register.
If blocking is enabled, a held truck returns to service only after a supervisor clears it.

It is based on the National Safety Code Schedule 1 items that Standard 13 applies to trucks, tractors and trailers, and each item is rated OK, minor or major with notes. The app records the inspection the driver did; it does not on its own make a carrier compliant with Standard 13.
Only when you switch on the company rule, which asks for a post-trip before each delivery and a pre-trip before each pickup. It is off by default.
If blocking is enabled, the truck stays out of service until cleared by a supervisor. If it is not, the defect is still saved on the inspection and listed on the vehicle’s risk register.
No. It is recorded on the inspection and shown on the risk register, and your shop decides what to do next. On Pro, that usually means the shop lead opening a work order and assigning a mechanic.
They come with Premium: a mechanic fills in a PM inspection on form 6609A for a truck or 6648A for a trailer, then prints it as a PDF.
Yes. Starter covers driver inspections, the pickup and delivery rule, out-of-service blocking and the risk register, and the SAAQ forms are added on Premium. Compare plans on pricing.
